The A319 is one of the smallest members of Airbus, which has emerged as a successful single-track aircraft, competing with Boeing's 300-737 and 700-737 models. Construction of the A319 began in June 1993 at the Paris Motor Show with six orders from ILFC Leasing and began to grow in the airline market. The first company to order the A319 was French carrier Air Inter, a subsidiary of Air France, which announced its order for six aircraft in February 1994. Later, British Airways, US Airways, United Airlines, Northwest, Lufthansa, Ircanada and Switzerland (now Switzerland International) became its main customers, ordering more than 500 A319s. The Airbus 319 first flew from Hamburg on August 25, 1995. Received the European JAA certification and entered service with Swiss Switzerland in April 1996. The A319 was built with a few changes from the successful A320. The most important difference between the A320 and A319 is the smaller body of the A319 compared to the A320. While all other aspects of the A319 and A320 are the same. Like the A321, A330, and A340, the A319 has two flight deck crews and lateral control levers, first introduced in the A320. These common features have many benefits to the cost of crew training, and all operational issues such as the A319-A320-A321 can be pursued by the pilot. In addition, due to the common cockpit, the crew training time to become the pilot of the larger A330 and A340 aircraft has been reduced. Like the A321, the final assembly of the A319 takes place in Hamburg. But other Airbus aircraft, including the A320, are assembled in Toulouse, France.
