hms fortune was one of nine 5 class destroyers nuilt in the mid 1930s. assigned to the home fleet upon completion. she was detached to the mediterranean fleet to enforce a blockade on both sides of the spanish civil war . in september 1939, fortune and three of her sister ships sank a u 27.she escorted capital shirs like the ark royal ,glorious ,valient argus and renown.
