Owing to combat experience the Aero Fighter mk 2 saw many improvements over the original mk 1 series. These included a much more powerful 500hp engine, increased dihedral of the horizontal stabilisers and long upswept wing tips improved handling. It was also the first model to incorporate a a weapons arming system. Also a variety of wing configurations were developed and resulted in four different models. The Aero Fighter mk 2a had a total of 6 machine guns and was best suited to the intercept and escort roles.
