Haub. 75 'Ganyu'

The Haubitze 75 is a self-propelled howitzer developed during as a requirement for the STC-5 amored vehicle chassis standardization procurement for a mobile artillery system armed with a 150 mm cannon. Under the Convention 121 system it is nicknamed as Ganyu.

Overview

The STC-5 chassis was developed by Apep (Damavand) bureau and sent through the Material Division to diversify the use of a standardized tank chassis, with one of its advantages being part commonality in maintenance. The STC-5 offered roles such as main battle tank and a propelled howitzer.

The Haub. 74 and 75 were placed as final contenders on a competition dated 1977/1978 for a propelled artillery/howitzer. The Haub. 75 featured a fixed turret and like the 74, used a 150 mm. cannon that can fire Sprgr. (HE) shells while aiming at 15 to 35 degrees.
