A peque-peque, also spelled peke-peke, is a wooden river and lake vessel originating from the Peruvian rainforest. It can be a canoe or boat, approximately 10 meters long and 1.5 meters wide, with an outboard motor. Generally unstable on the water, they are very common for transporting passengers and goods on the rivers of the Amazon region of Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, and Peru.
The name of the vessel is a Peruvian term derived from the sound the motor makes when propelling the boat. The propeller is connected to the motor by a driveshaft located about a meter from the vessel and also serves as the steering mechanism.
