Auto Credit Based on MetallicBeef6572's [CLOSED] BEST OF 2025 CHALLENGE!!

My 1910 Hanriot monoplane, not only the best aircraft I made this year, but also my most upvoted aircraft ever. Originally published in February, I took this challenge as an opportunity to re-upload it with 10 months of new knowledge and improved handling... And also with a VR cockpit.

As to the original: The Hanriot monoplane is easily one of the most beautiful flying machines of the prewar era. Designed by a builder of racing boats, she immediately turns heads with her sleek laminated wood fuselage and her sailing ship inspired tailplane. I strived for this build to capture not only the looks but also the flying experience of the original.

For starters, much like any plane of that era, she is light but slow. She takes off by itself at 60 mph and cruises leisurely at 90 mph top speed. Although I since increased the capacity of the overhead fuel tank, her range is still limited and overland flights are a challenge. Still you can easily do a couple of rounds of show-flying around the airfield of your choice. (Did I mention that VTOL controls tht pilot's right arm so you can wave at the public while passing?)

I since hid some 'fake' landing gear in the skid assembly so the plane won't flip over when you land too steep or brake too hard. Still, approach your runway with care.

Otherwise, the plane is as straightforward as it gets: no flaps, no instruments, just your standard joystick layout.

For VR, the plane uses the old Antionette -type controls of one leves or turnable wheel on each side of the cockpit. The left one controls the Wing warping (and thus rolling), the right one controls the tailplane (therefore the pitch). The lever for the Throttle is mounted on the right fuel tank strut

Happy landings!

Ps, the figure for the pilot is available Here. His head Here
