Happy new year everyone, time for another challenge aircraft.

DESIGN AND LORE

The XF 106 Delta-MIR is a Supersonic, High Altitude Interceptor designed for the sole purpose to hunt down enemy Strategic and tactical bombers.
Developed in the early 1960. Its introduction came at a time where bombers reign supreme, with ever increasing supersonic bombers coming into service, there was a need to have a platform specially designed to take it down.

The Delta makes use of a single Delta wing design, with a massive Afterburning Turbofan Engine to bring it up to speeds of mach 1.9. Its role as an Interceptor gives it dedicated radar system to track and engage enemies over a long range. Given its high landing speed, an on board parachute can be deployed to slow the craft down.

Designed solely as an Interceptor. The Delta carries only Air to Air weapons. It's main armament of 4 short range missiles ranged: 10km are stored in an Internal weapons bay. Additional weapons come in the form of 2 Long range missiles ranged: 25km which are mounted on external pylons. A 5 barrel rotary gun provides it with defensive armament.
