Sirocco

The Sirocco was the LRI's main heavy bomber. A rather strange push-pull design, this configuration not only made it a high-endurance machine capable of staying aloft for long periods of time, but also resilient to battle damage. On top of this, the triplane configuration provided it with a high payload, making it perfect both for bombing pirate bases in Mediterranean islands and the North African coast, and bombing cities to submission back when the LRI was still conquering Italy. Against the CIR's campaign, it's role was much the same, being seen by CIR pilots as a large step up from Nova Evropan Burners as targets.

It's most famous actions were bombing of CIR targetsall the way in the Iberian Peninsula, with the intention of disrupting their logistics and pinning down their fighters. This would both be noted for their contrast with Nova Evropan tactics (the LRI sought to attack cities important for the war effort; whereas Novas Evropa typically attacked soft targets even if they had no war importance, for the sake of taking captives and butchering civilians). These raids required modifying the Siroccos, which entailed fitting fuel tanks in the bomb bay and only relying on external loads.

The Sirocco's more typical roles were more boring through: bombing CIR-backed rebels, and attacking the Iberian Confederation's allies in North Africa; which were vital for the logistics of the war.
