The underperforming TF30’s of the F-14A Tomcat did not allow the airframe to reach its full potential, leading to their replacement with the General Electric F110. Initially designated F-14A+, the F-14B Tomcat had higher thrust and engine reliability compared to the F-14A. Other than a new RWR, most of the F-14A avionics remained unchanged, including the AN/AWG-9 radar. While some refer to this variant as the “Bombcat,” the nickname originated from F-14A’s fitted with bombs.The F-14 was retired from US Navy service in 2006 and the only remaining operator of the F-14 is Iran, which continues to use and upgrade the F-14A. The F-14B and D are no longer in military service at all. Most American F-14’s, especially B and D’s, have been gutted of their avionics and internal systems, if not dismantled completely to prevent Iran from acquiring spare parts.

This is a special livery me and a friend on discord came up with. The livery is inspired by the IJN Shinano as featured in Azur Lane.
I also smoothened it up a bit and made it shinier. And added a bit of wing flex since the wings looked a little stiff in high alpha turns, also added a RIO pov camera

F-14B vs @ReinMcDeer’s Mitsubishi F-2 (me)
Fight time: 45 seconds
Flight log: I look around and spot the F-14, jettisoned my fuel tanks and pulled a high g turn to get nose on. My missles lock faster than the F-14’s but I don’t fire yet, although the F-14 did. I use my flares and repeating the cycle until I’m .5 miles away I say “Fox three!” 3 seconds goes by, a huge fireball emerges. I yell “Splash 1!” Pulling away before I hit the poor F-14 carcass.
