Summary


Designed as a contemporary to the legendary Lysander, the Alcidas was far less extensive service but was in many ways a better aircraft. Its only shortcoming was being smaller and shorter ranges than the Lysander. Saw service throughout WW2.

Performance


  • V1- 85mph.

  • Vsafe- Approx 80 mph.

  • Vmax- 220mph in level flight at 1000ft.

  • 100-0mph: approx 10 seconds when braking at maximum safe levels.

-Powerplant- 1x Bristol Radial engine, 900hp @ 3000rpm.

  • AG1+Yaw to turn on ground (tail wheel)
  • VTOL for Flaps.

    Landing Instructions


Landings can be precarious due to the layout of the landing gear, as an incorrect landing can destroy the propeller. Thefollowing will allow a safe landing:
- Reduce airspeed to approx 120mph

  • Flaps to full

  • Descend toward LZ at an angle no greater than -20°

  • Reduce airspeed to around 100mph

  • Flare approach, nose should be at a max angle of +5°

  • Touch down,ideally with a three-point landing

  • Cut Throttle, and brake gently (no more than 50% braking force should be used)
