The Ho 229 is an experimental German flying wing fighter-bomber designed (and crashed) in World War II. According to flight simulators, the aircraft showed extremely poor yaw stability and roll rate, however, excellent pitch capability. I highly suggest using rudder pedals or a twist joystick to fly this; the aircraft relies almost exclusively on pilot yaw input to keep the nose pointed the right way. The aircraft also features flaps (use VTOL control) and a brake parachute for landing (press 1).

The aircraft'a wings were designed with a noticeable amount of washout, which the Horten brothers predicted would assist in providing yaw stability.

Also, keep in mind SimplePlanes' jet engines produce less thrust than they ought to, so despite this aicraft producing an accurate amount of thrust stat-wise, it doesn't go anywhere near as fast as the Ho 229 ought to, according to War Thunder and IL-2 1946's renditions (which both have very similar performance)

@SkyEyeMCCIX small discrapancy between the name change and your knowledge: the v3 stands for prototype. a sreires designation would more likely in the a-1 are of alpha numeric stuff.

@SkyEyeMCCIX and thats the funny part. did you know that the BF designation on the BF 109 and Bf110 was bayrische flugzeuwerke (bavarian planeworks)? its not guaranteed that a plane gets the designation of its creator.

Edited the title for clarity. I always knew the plane as the Ho 229; didn't realize that its' designation was ought to be Gotha.

But wouldn't they name the plane after the designer? For example the Ta 152 and Ta 154, named after Kurt Tank, rather than the Focke-Wulf company that built them.

with one error: the horten brothers werent able to build planes in big numbers. and the famous jet was theyr ninth plane. or with better words: this thing was in reality called horten 9 and the 229 stems from the factory and is acompanied by a go for gotha.
