Auto Credit Based on B1's (OPEN) The 1960s Challenge by B1

The year is 1963 and the R.S.M.I cant keep surviving on stolen US blueprints and has a need, a need for S P E E D. So what do you do when you need to go fast down low? You put your aerospace manufactures to work.

1964 and the first few prototypes are flown for a strike fighter, that can operate at low and high altitudes, carry 10,000+ pounds of bombs at mach 1.5 at sea level, be able to carry a nuclear payload and not require an escort. AeroAeroSpaces own preproduction strike fighter happened to perform the best despite being a little..... expensive.

But! For good reason, as the 83 foot long menace to society can JUST barely touch mach2 at sealevel and carry the bombs, with the benefit of brand spanking new A2A Missiles that allow it to defend itself, the giant radar fitted onto the giant aircraft allowing it to spot and track other aircraft from pretty far out, and thus be the first platform to be able to carry a bullseye.

Now you may be wondering, if the contract only truely needed low level speed? Than why the swing wing. Well to allow the aircraft to A: fly at low speeds and take stuff out with the cannon, and B: take off and land from PRETTY short runways, and thus get more style points despite being the most expensive prototype.

The airframe still serves today as HIGHLY modernized variants that mostly still occupy the same role, because designing a new aircraft outright is still more expensive than popping out a few new modernized 60's stuff a year.

2 ATAM-2 Bullseye: Fat and fast this missile be, slow to turn it relies on a giant warhead and the planes giant radar to blow stuff up

4 SRATAM-1Side binder: Small but nimble for a 60's missile, good for dogfights

4 Mk-82: Just a dumb bomb, what did you expect?

1 GC-35 Retaliator: just your average 35 mm gattling cannon, used for vaporizing whatevers in your way
