SWL-120 Flight Management Computer

61.0k PlaneFlightX  5 days ago

This is the flight management computer (FMC) from the SWL-120's cockpit. You can explore its functionality with the FMC by itself which is why I decided to upload it. To turn it on, press AG 1. You can navigate its pages fairly easy; text with an arrow (<>) next to it will either link to another page or do an action. All subpages have a "<RETURN" or "<PREV PG" button to go back.

Some inputs have specific requirements. I haven't made a full manual yet, but some main examples are:
- The flight plan (HOME > ROUTE > FLTPLN > ) needs the input to be a valid waypoint. What counts as a valid waypoint depends on what mod plugins you have enabled in the setup page. To view all waypoints, go (HOME > WYPTS > ) and select either "DEFAULT" or any enabled mod plugins. The "CUSTOM" page allows you to create up to four custom waypoints, which may also be used in the flight plan.
- Inputs with squares need the input string to be as long as the number of boxes. Inputs with dashes can have less than, but no more than the number of dashes.
- Some inputs only accept numbers.

Again I haven't made a full guide yet and randomly felt like posting this; feel free to explore around and if you have any questions simply ask me.

As seen in my advanced autopilot video, the FMC has deep integration with the plane's autopilot and isn't simply a fun decorative part. The flight plan in particular gets used with the autonavigation.

@Boeing727200F I have screws, which will be replaced with even more detailed screws when I eventually mod all the cockpit details (a no mods version will of course be available). Honestly, to go any further would require me to use textures and spend too much time working on this, far beyond the loop of "I'm better now, let's replace this 2 year old part". I would be perpetually working on the plane, remaking every part forever. This has been my most complicated project ever, and will likely remain the most complex aircraft I ever make for a long time. Anything I make in SP2 will be slightly simpler, especially in the general construction due to the new parts.

Speaking of wiring, I do have a fully simulated electrical system which you can view on the EICAS display (not in this build).
