Alternative history

What if during WW2, the French could hold on for longer?
Long enough to start to produce a desperate project of a jet fighter…?
With that question, I present the D.5200 Emergency Jet Fighter.
A single-engine early jet fighter with not-so-amazing qualities.

The Idea:

One of my favorite airplane designs of all time is the HE-162 Volksjäger. It's simple, it's unremarkable, but it's quite elegant and intelligent for the role that it was supposed to take.
The very concept of "emergency fighter" is quite fascinating to me, a crude fighter with just enough juice to face a much more powerful enemy (I guess everyone likes the underdog story).
And for some reason this fascination ends up making me literally dream about this thing, a French single-engine jet fighter with a belly-mounted engine.
And after some iterations in the style (in my dream the thing has a F.222 look to it), I came up with this.
I pretend to make a few more alternative history emergency jet fighters for other nations in the future; I just really love the concept.

Actions:

AG1: Engine enable/disable
AG2: Guns enable/disable
VTOL: Flaps
