The M392 Wiesel Armoured Weapons Carrier is a Federation light air-transportable armoured fighting vehicle designed to meet a requirement for an air-transportable light armored vehicle for use by its airborne troops, as the infantry, especially airborne infantry, were considered unprepared to successfully fight enemy main battle tanks. Similar in size to historical tankettes. The Wiesel is equip with advanced features for the protection of the crew such as enhanced armour, an air conditioning system, and NBC protection. It is protected all around from 10.2x55mm Federation rounds with good protection against 12.7x108mm rounds on the frontal plates. The vehicle is crewed by a minimum of 2 people but 3 is recommended. The Wiesel is able to achieve speeds of 55mph and be air dropped fully crewed to aid paratroopers.

This particular unit is equip with a 40x365mm Bushmaster capable of firing 3P (Prefragmented, Programmable, Proximity-fuzed), APFSDS-T Mk I, and APFSDS-T Mk II rounds. The 3P round will provide air burst capability and the APFSDS-T Mk II can penetrate armor with a thickness in excess of 178 millimeters. Appliqué armour is placed around the turret for extra turret protection of infantry riding behind on the "ledge."
