Description & History:

The Consolidated B-24 Liberator was a World War II American heavy bomber developed by the Consolidated Aircraft Corporation. On March 30, 1939, a contract was signed with the US Army. The prototype made its first flight on December 29, 1939.
The bomber was actively used in the European theater of operations of World War II.
The fuselage, which was conventional in design, had a height that made it possible to equip a bomb bay with vertical stacking of up to 3629 kg of bombs. During the bombing strike, when the hatches were opened, the doors were drawn into the fuselage along the roller guides. This design had less drag compared to conventional bomb bays. The aircraft had a tricycle retractable landing gear with a nose strut, and the power plant included four Pratt & Whitney R-1830-33 Twin Wasp engines.
