Kalstar Aviation was an Indonesian regional airline founded in 2000 under the name PT Kal Star Nusantara. The airline was created to serve regional and underserved routes, especially in Kalimantan, where air transportation is essential due to limited land infrastructure.

In its early years, Kalstar operated turboprop aircraft such as the ATR 42 and ATR 72, which were well-suited for short runways and remote airports. As demand increased, the airline expanded its network to Java and other parts of Indonesia and later introduced Boeing 737-300 and 737-500 later e190 and e195 aircraft for higher-capacity routes.
