When they were making the plane, they had a strong engine because it had lots of room it was placed back of the cockpit in the fuselage. That's why it has intake back of the cockpit.
and so they mounted 2x 12.7mm total of 400rounds witch is a lot for a nose-mounted gun and 30 rounds 37mm in the nose.
so there are 4x 7.26mm, 2 on each wing and 2x 12.7mm in front of the cockpit and 1x 37mm in the nose in P-39N Airacobra
