DP-B-3 ODDITY

The DP-B-3 “ODDITY” is... a spectacular sight and an odd one, hence its name. This long range heavy bomber was the most disapointing project of the bomber projects. With only 3 recorded missions done across the whole war she didnt even do that much. Its safe to say this was an expiremental aircraft yet she was fully developed and utilized. The bomber used a new jet technology to propel despite the prop engines at the front. The props served better as a way to cool the engine more than something to propel. Not only this her shape and cockpit location made it incredibly difficult to hit specific targets. The 20x 250 pound dumb bombs were mounted on the engine pods connected to a flimsy wing. This meant inflight wing breaks were common. And even more duding combat. With no anti aircraft defenses and with its size, it was an easy target. So much so one of the pilots drew a bullseye on the bottom of their fuselage as a joke. The plane was later found crashed in a reef split down the middle. Her one and only virtue is her speed. Topping out at around 700mph she can outrun many prop fighters of the era. She was just too ahead of her time to be useful.
