The LF-02 was the successor to the LF-01. It was developed to overcome the LF-01's weakness of easily entering a spin by using canards. However, in the early stages of development, although the canards worked to prevent the aircraft from stalling up to a certain angle of attack, once the angle of attack was exceeded, the canards would suddenly stall and the aircraft would fall into a spin, which caused difficulties in developing the flight control. After repeated adjustments, it was finally possible to easily recover from a spin.
Although it is said to be a bit peaky, it has a track record of winning simulated air combat gunfights against opponents capable of post-stall maneuvers. The cockpit display also uses a new system that has not been used before, and stall warning and altitude warning have been added.
LF-01の後継機。LF-01の弱点であったスピンへの入りやすさをカナードによって克服すべく開発された。ただ、開発初期には一定の迎角までカナードが失速しないように働くものの、一定の迎角を超えるとカナードが一気に失速しスピンに陥るという問題が発生して飛行制御の開発が難航した。調整を重ねようやくスピンからの回復が簡単に成せるようになった。多少ピーキーではあるとのの、ポストストールマニューバが可能な相手に模擬空戦のガンファイトで勝利した実績がある。コクピットの表示も従来には無い方式を採用し、失速警報、高度警報を追加した。
