The F70 is a 5th gen lightweight carrier-based air superiority/light strike fighter aircraft , developed by Astranesian Air & Space Industries , the craft was developed by demands of the Navy for a 5th gen fighter

in 2007 , Astranesia still relies on upgraded 4th gen fighters , such as F72S and F65SS , and 2 year before that USAAF introduced the F-22 Raptor , the first true 5th gen fighter aircraft , although Astranesia has a lot 5th gen tech-demo , they were not entered into service because theyre deemed "not good enough" , both Astranesia Navy and Air Force later ruled out a minimal requirement for any 5th gen concepts , these requirements werent alot , however none were easy , the main one being "101% win rate against the Raptor" , AASI responded saying that such aircraft require more than 2 years of development , and they can only make a stop gap fighter in the mean time , they didnt waste any time and started developing , they used the fuselage from a prototype fighter designated P70 , the P70 has a fuselage resembling the EF Typhoon , but narrower with only 1 engine , they quickly made changes and additions , this changes and additions is as listed :

-Simplified cockpit internal's,
-Side Intake (from fuselage belly intake),
-Lighter Material (fuselage is around 15% lighter than the original P70 fuselage),
-V-tail with no rear horizontal wing (rudder and pitch is integrated to one wing),
-revised nose and cockpit for lighter weight
-and the most notable one , Sweep wings

the reason they went for sweeping straight wings is for both high speed and high maneuverability , and the ability to reduce the wingspan for carrier operations , the aircraft maiden flight took place in January 2009 and soon entered service in October , thanks to its simplicity , AASI managed to outproduce the F-22 , meaning it succeded at its purpose as a stop gap fighter
