The Brazilian Naval Aviation operated three TBM aircraft. The planes were donated by the USN for exclusive use in maneuver training aboard the aircraft carrier Minas Gerais, which brought them to Brazil when it was acquired in 1956 from the British Royal Navy. After a failed takeoff, which resulted in the loss of one aircraft, the other two were transported to the São Pedro da Aldeia Naval Air Base, where they flew little due to a lack of spare parts. And, due to disagreements with the Brazilian Air Force about which force should operate the aircraft from the aircraft carrier, they could not return to Minas Gerais. In 1965, with the Brazilian Navy's prohibition on operating fixed-wing aircraft, the Avengers were deactivated and subsequently scrapped.
