"With our advantage in speed and range, we will dictate the course of this battle."

OVERVIEW

The super dreadnought ANS Yarravez is the first battleship ordered after the reunification of Arsland and Kyria. She combined high speed powerful main armament and a capable protection systems. She and her sisters would be some of the most feared warships on the seas. Her design would reflect the combined design philosophy of the two previous battleships from both nations. Her speed allowed her to dictate an engagement with other battleships and her armor and weaponry is capable of tackling battlecruisers.

A New Nation, A New Battleship

After the reunification of Arsland and Kyria in 1916 it was decided that for an island nation it needed a stronger navy. While the previous battleships the Arslan Westreza and Kyrian Khonxxe inherited by the new nation were capable, they lack armor and firepower. The new ships would be inspired by the new Queen Elizabeth class of super dreadnought. These new 35.000 ton ships would be equipped with the same 16 inch gun used on the Westreza class, these 16 inch gun had one of the longest range of any gun used at the time. These guns would be placed in 4x twin turrets similar to the Colorado and queen Elizabeth class. While her main armament was very capable, her secondary would left much to be desired. She was designed with the superiority of arsenian cruisers in mind. It was thought of that there wouldn't be any small ships capable of reaching the main battle line. As such the Yarravez class only would be equipped with 8x6 inch gun in casemate and 4x6 inch gun in single turrets. Yarravez would be the first ship in the 24 knot battleline to be equipped with the new 16 inch guns. To achieve her high speed she was equipped with turbo-electric engines and a sleeker hull form. For armor protection she feature some of heaviest deck protection among other battleships, this was part of the new doctrine of superior speed and range. Her protection would allow her to Have immunity against gretanican 15 and 16 inch weaponry at long range.

By early 1917 her design would be finalized and construction soon after. The first order would be of 3 ships, but it was soon boosted to 6 ships after the loss of two of Westerza class ships in a series of battles in the north sea. The first ship to be completed would be the ANS Yarravez in December 14th 1918. The new class was celebrated as an important point in the history of the nation as they were the first major construction project to be completed after the reunification. The class would be named after the provinces that used to be the border between the now unified nation.

Tension Rises

In 1922 the Washington naval treaty had put a stop to capital ships construction for all large nations with the exception of ordosa and walheim. Most pre dreadnought and older dreadnought would be scrapped and the construction of several new ships halted. With this Arsenia would be stuck as a 2nd tier naval power with japan. With the treaty in place the most powerful ships in the world would be the battlecruiser such as the Gretanican HMS Duncan, Hoitan Amagi, and Ursean USS Constitution. Now the Yarravez would be the slowest ship of the new battle line. Even with the slow speed she still provide good firepower and armor. Even though capital ship construction would be halted the development of cruiser wasn't given much restrictions, as such their development would continue. By 1924 tension had arisen between Gretanica and Arsenia due to a series of colonial dispute and misunderstanding. As such war would broke out in july 21st 1924. Immediately after the out break of war Arsenia would initiate War Plan Unicorn and sent the older 14 inch armed dreadnought to receive a new upgrade. In the meantime the newer 16 inch armed ships would begin to initiate a quarantine of the highly spread out Gretanican fleet. The Yarravez and her sister the Beastoros would be sent to trap the Gretanican Fleet within the Mediterranean sea.

Mediterranean struggles
In 1924 the Yarravez and her sister would be the only battleships holding off the western side of the Mediterranean sea, up against them would be 3 iron duke class battleship and the HMS tiger. The two battleship would hold the quarantine together with the 44th cruiser division. Many times the Gretanican fleet would attempt to breakout, but the speed and fire power of the newer Arsenian battleship would stop all of these attempts.

Battle of kaskargan
October 12nd 1924, the Gretanican Mediterranean fleet would depart from Gibraltar heading towards the strait of Gibraltar. Their plan was to escape the Mediterranean Sea and regroup with the grand fleet in scapa flow. The fleet consists of the three iron dukes and HMS tiger and an assortment of cruisers and destroyers. In the dead of night the fleet would make their dash, initially everything seems to be going great, the two battleship were not present in the straits and the fleet managed to pass through. But this would end just 50km from the straits.

Lookout aboard HMS iron duke spotted smoke dead ahead. Crews aboard all ships would move towards their battle stations. 30km ahead was the two ANS Yarravez and ANS Beastoros heading towards the Gretanican at maximum speed. Up ahead of the two battleship were a fleet of cruisers and destroyers laying smokescreen ahead of the battle line. Soon the smaller ships would begin engaging one another. The superiority of Arsenian cruisers would be proven true as the older design of the Gretanican cruisers were handled quickly. Soon the 16 inch guns of Yarravez would open up, her aim directed towards lead battleship HMS iron duke. After several salvos shot begin to hit the super dreadnought. The older armour of the iron duke was easily penetrated by the large 16 inch shells. The heavy shelling of the iron duke would cause large amounts of damage and eventually sink the old dreadnought. HMS Marlborough would take the lead but would suffer the same fate, her 13.5 inch gun having difficulties penetrating the newer battleships. Soon the distance was closing and the older guns began penetrating the newer battleship's belt armor. But now the Arsenian destroyers were able to launch several attacks on the 2 remaining capital ships. Both capital ship would receive several torpedo hits, these would cause the HMS Benbow to lose speed and stability, while the HMS Tiger would be sunk after getting hit by 4 torpedoes in her starboard side.

Skrado Valies
After the battle Yarravez and the recommissioning of the older 14 inch armed ships Yarravez would re joined the rest of the home fleet in the lead up to the battle of Skrado Valies. Skrado Valies would be the largest naval battle up until Zenitrak, over 20 years later. The battle would involve over 40 battleship and battlecruisers from both sides, along with an assortment of cruisers and smaller ships. In the battle Yarraves would be targeted by several ships throughout the battle, this would result in high damage and casualties. Returning from the battle she was heavily damaged and she limp back towards Arsenia mid battle.

Post War

After the war she was one of the few ships that remain in active duty. Even while active she wasn't prioritized for a refit due to her limited speed and as a result she came in to the war as one of the slower ships. Her career would continue even to the 2nd world war where she would be sunk in the battle of the Atlantic by the battleship HMS lion.
