Messerschmitt Bf (Me) 109 , II. World War II German fighter aircraft. It was designed by Willy Messerschmitt (Vili Mesirsimit) in the 1930s. The Messerschmitt 109 was the most advanced single-seat fighter of its time , making its maiden flight as the prototype Bf 109 V1 in May 1935. The "B-1" with Jumo engine , which started to be produced in February 1937, entered service in the Luftwaffe . The Jumo 210 engine was also used in the "B", "C" and "D" models. Daimler-Benz DB 601 in Bf 109 E, which remained in production from January 1939 to early 1942engine is used. Production of the "G" model began in May 1942. The Messerschmitt 109 was built around 35,000, of which about 12,000 were the Bf 109 G.
