IA-26 Immortal Fortress heavy bomber

300 ImmortalAircraft  4.2 years ago

IA-26 was Immortal Aerospaces' mainstay heavy bomber being used in the american fleet during the Great War. The innovative lower gunner post is what set it apart from other bombers of its time. Allowing the gunners for more freedom of motion while targeting fighters, while also keeping the gunners locatated closer to the rest of their crew and the saving tail weight that would result from a tail gunner. The bottom mounted gunner post also gives the planes defenses more protection by sheilding them with the cockpit and tail section of the resulting in less gunner casulties due to enemy fire. This plane carries 9x boom 50 "base buster" bombs and 1000 gallons more fuel than the IA-16 allowing for longer bombing runs. the only week point of this aircraft is its exposed belly leaving it susceptible to enemy flak cannons.
