F-30A Falchion (Fighter Jet Challenge) (Fixed)

1,750 AcePilot118  3.6 years ago

(Fictional)(Low cost fighter/interceptor)

Description: The F-30 Falchion is a “low cost” solution to the highly agile SU-30. During development, it suffered from severe issues including but not limited to the loss of up to 3 airframes, Adverse Roll issues, and instability. During the design process it was decided that pre-existing parts were the cheapest option in addition to making the manufacturing of parts more simple, as a result the horizontal stabilizer (derived from the F-15) ended up looking like the tail of a Sukhoi 27 series fighter. When it was decided that canards were to be implemented, a running joke emerged amongst the design crew leading to the canards being built almost exactly like the ones on the SU-30. Late in development the planned armaments of 2 AIM-9Xs and 2 AIM-120Ds were swapped out for only two of the cheaper and more agile AIM-9Y. It was finally pushed into service in late 2020 without the implementation of stealth or thrust vectoring. However due to rushed production the aerodynamic performance was not refined, and it was determined that it would preform better as an interceptor.

Notes: Roll is unstable at extreme AoA,

Negative AoA will cause issues with roll,

The FBW system allows for slightly more intuitive controls when preforming post stall maneuvers,

landing can be an issue,

Somewhat sensitive controls,

Loses lots of speed in turns,

Turning speed is poor because it doesn’t have enough lift to change direction quickly.

Fixes:

Unrealistic Missile induced instability corrected,

missiles now guide properly.

Actions:
1-4, nothing
5, jettison missiles,
6, nothing
7, eject
8, nothing

This plane has a mild allergy to auto pilot, but it can still sorta fly on autopilot, it won’t necessarily crash, but it is flown better manually. Also note this is the final version

@AndrePlaysSP that’s fair, I forgot to mention that it’s better to turn using trim while at high speed
