Background

The M282 is a Federation Multiple Launch Rocket System designed to saturate target areas with large amounts of rockets. Used to provide counter battery fire against hostile artillery positions and engage air defense units to free up gun type artillery units for supporting ground forces. Utilizing Shoot-and-scoot tactics, these MLRS systems were able to avoid counter battery fire and reload in safety. With one launcher firing 6 guided cluster rockets able to blanket a square kilometer as each rocket is capable of releasing 644 sub munitions each. These vehicles operate in groups of 3, are able to completely decimate a target area.

Versions of the vehicle can deploy two guided ATACMS in place of the 6 rockets. Both load outs can deploy all their munitions within a minute, making it very difficult for a targeted force to escape the rockets, track the launcher, and destroy it.
