                         ---History---

The Martin Model 262 was a proposed fighter design for a "Convoy Fighter", a Point Defense Interceptor that could be launched and recovered from the deck of a standard cargo ship with little modification. The Initial design featured a standard configuration, and would have taken off and landed on a special rack that would lock with a spike that would be extended out during landing. the Initial design was designated Model 262 A, but was redesigned from the Ground up, resembling the Model 262 C. the Model 262 B had a single delta wing, and the Propeller mounted behind the cockpit in the center, but this design still needed a landing rack, and the propeller placement would have created violent vibrations in the cockpit. The Engineers refined the Model B into the Model C, which moved the prop further back to reduce the vibrations and eliminated the need for a rack, but by the time these changes were made, the project was cancelled for the same reason the Convair Pogo and Lockheed Salmon were cancelled.

                ---Challenge side note---

this is a semi-serious entry, more because i wanted to make something cool. also fair warning, the engine needed to be cranked to LUDICROUS levels of power... like 1% will CATAPULT this plane into the sky, but it performs well. just don't try to land it...

    - Originality: 10/10 (extremely rare concept, also this looks like the only Martin 262 in SP)
    - Looks: 12/15 (very nice, very accurate, but no fuselage wing)
    - Performance: 12/15 (powerful and manoeuvrable, I had a fun time flying it and trying to shoot tankers down with it)
    - Features: 5/5 (guns)
    - Overall: 39/45 (good job! I'm saving this)
