The Beetle-GAD (Ground Attack Drone) is a drone, designed to quickly and effectively take out heavy targets (mostly ships and heavy structures) and is fitted with 2 custom, faster firing rockets. It was designed by engineers on Snowstone, in the Great Island War (2023-2027). Due to the Krakabloan Navy beeing a huge threat to Snowstone, the airforces engineers had to come up with a solution. The result beeing the Beetle, which has detroyed its first target on the 13th of May 2025 and until 2027 destroyed: 3 Bridges, 2 Rocket research facilities, 48 production plants, 73 battleships (including 2 carriers) and many smaller targets, like tanks or small bunkers. Because Krakabloa had very bad targeting systems at that time, they made the drone as small as possible, while still packing a punch and beeing relatively cheap to produce. Most of the time, a heavy bomber was refitted to be able to have 6 of these drones attached under their wing so they could reach their targets. The drones then proceeded to descend very fast, shoot all of their rockets at one or sometimes two targets, before turning around and flying back. Often times there isn't enough fuel left to fly all the way back though, so the parachute and at the same time the green blinking light are activated (AG1), as soon as they're a certain distance away from the enemy. The drone will land and almost completely submerge (if landed in water obviously). This leads to its signal beeing very weak. Because of that, if the drone gets a signal by a friendly ship, it will shoot a flare every 15 seconds so the ship can locate it. Some fun facts: 250 Beetles where made. The Beetle was flown 92 times (mostly 6 at a time), and only 4 were ever landed. However, 198 remain intact today(2031), and still ready to use, in case of emergency.
