Background
The Giaguaro (Jaguar) 1A4 is the FSV (Fire Support Vehicle) version of the Giaguaro 1A1 APC.
Armed with a 30mm Locke-Würm XM33 autocannon, the 1A4 can provide enough firepower to support a fight. Combined with the great speed, it is a very useful vehicle for any type of situation.
Development for the Giaguaro platform started in 1991, after the Italian army recognized the models in use were getting obsolete.
The Ministry of Defense issued a contract to FICV to come up with a modern design that was on-par with the NATO standards.
Development ended in 1998, when the first Giaguaro 1A1 was produced.
The 1A4 was developed in 2002, to fill the temporary gap of a ground troop support vehicle.
