Once upon a time, this was my magnum opus.
This was the culmination of all that I had accomplished in this game.
This was almost everything I'd done and learned all compressed into a single airframe.
Then, it didn't happen.
I had issues (apparently unsolvable) with Reshade, so felt it'd be wasted posting without proper screenshots.
I put it off.
Now, the aircraft is outdated. It has several flaws, obsolete methods, and a myriad of others issues I'm sure I've long since forgotten.
Someday, I'll complete it.
Or so I tell myself.
Out of fear of ruining what I'd already accomplished, I never so much as nudged it. What you see is exactly as I first shared with my closest friends for feedback 1.3 years ago. It is identical - after all, it's a direct download; the original file, as well as any changes it may or may've not had, were lost when Steam annihilated everything months ago.
Well, why wait any longer?
This aircraft isn't complete. Nowhere near complete. It's not my magnum opus, rather it is a memorial to my work ethic and dedication: something which doesn't exist.
This post isn't real, you're not seeing it. The Archfiend, the great aerial power of Graingy, has never seen the light of day.
Step into a dream, my dream, of a year and a half ago when I thought I had what it takes to bring Graingy's greatest to the world of SimplePlanes. Feel what I felt, and pick apart what I built. See my failures on full display, for there is no other aspect under which they can hide.
Imagine the Archfiend as it could've been.
As it never was.
Finally, I am free.

that sucks tbh, this thing lowk has genuine potential if it weren't for the random issues :(
@Graingy for best
@ReynaldoHeavyIndustries what spirit?
@Graingy ok Keep the spirit alive, my friend
@ReynaldoHeavyIndustries It really isn't.
I appreciate the sentiment, but it really isn't.
Wow nice
... What now?
Well, that's a question I've been asking myself a lot tonight.
I could say any number of terrible, awful things; things I'd rather not spend time thinking about.
I think I'll look up, for once.
On the plus side, I'm finally out of the jar.
Boy, that dragged on.
I've waited so long, but now I am free.
Free of this plane. Free of the expectation of some eventual conclusion.
Free of an expectation I could never live up to.
This tale ends not with victory or some grand conclusion, rather it ends in defeat. But an end it is nonetheless.
Someday, the Archfiend will fly. I could only hope so. But not today.
