The RAH-66 Comanche was an armed reconnaissance and attack helicopter jointly developed by Boeing and Sikorsky for the U.S. Army. It was originally intended to replace the OH-58 Kiowa and supplement or partially replace the AH-64 Apache.Key features include: • Stealth design: The Comanche utilized a low radar cross-section (RCS) shape and composite materials, with most weapons stored internally to reduce radar visibility. • High maneuverability: It featured an advanced five-blade main rotor and a stealthy fenestron tail rotor, offering excellent agility and low acoustic signature. • Advanced avionics: Equipped with integrated electronic warfare systems, sensors, and data links, the Comanche was designed for high levels of situational awareness and networked operations. • Armament: It carried weapons in internal bays, such as anti-tank missiles and rockets, and was fitted with a 20mm cannon under the fuselage.Although the project began in the 1980s, it was canceled by the U.S. Army in 2004 due to post–Cold War budget constraints and evolving combat needs.
