updated version of the F/A-42 "Heron". actually lore relevant this time
also.. WHERE MY INDONESIANS AT
and by my homeslice's request, i have renamed it to "Vulture". (yeah, this is also kind of an excuse for me to give it the new name.)
also known as the "Feedback-D" (i went through 4 major stabilizations)
still no VR support. the way the nose is made prevents this. sorrgy
FEATURES AND UPGRADES:
- 10 available external hardpoints, for carrying out specific missions.
- max speed: ~Mach 1.55 (at around 20,000 feet. yes the engine power is a bit lower, no i dont know why.)
- nav lights
- increased functionality
- FT code thrust vectoring (auto-stabilizes at high AOAs, same as the Su-41X)
- wing pods with customizable armaments
- 12 internal missiles + 18 pod missiles
- my signature YM-22s, plus ADMM arrays.
- supermaneuverability (the best maneuverability system I HAVE ever implemeneted into one of my aircraft!)
- powerful toggleable afterburner
- 2 drag chutes
- canards for stability and maneuverability similar to that of the Su-41X
CHANGELOG:
Added: Su-41's canard code to the wingtips to allow higher stabilization when pitching. also, straight up added it's canards.
Changed: horizontal stabilizer shape & speed. shape is inspired by its cousin the Su-57, and in part the SAK-1 which ill never finish.
Changed: vertical stabilizer shape.
Added: cockpit panels for better awareness.
Changed: panoramic central HUD
Downside: very.. unintuitive.. units of measurement..Changed: YM-22 count from 12 -> 30 due to external pods
Downside: changed the Hybrid Bomb pods to YM-22 pods, but you weren't using them anyway.
CONTROLS:
AG1: activate ADMM pods
AG2: activate parachute
AG3: open bay doors + activate internal missiles & missile pods
AG4: release pods
AG5: activate afterburner (throttle=100%)
AG6: nav + formation lights
AG7: open canopy
AG8: toggle TVC
NOTE: when taking off, turning AG8 off is recommended. when landing, having AG8 on can be useful unless you plan to be going fast and then use the drag chutes to slow down.
additional note: try this out: turn AG8 off, go full throttle (no burner), and hold S. you'll go straight vertical on takeoff, just like an F-22. this wasn't intentional, but it's very cool
LORE:
the Heron was nearly perfect, it proved its worth in every aspect it was meant to, but it was lacking. pilots couldn't always have TVC on while in flight, or during a dogfight, and without it, the plane would often enter yaw spins, which the Su-41 didn't.
the Vulture was made as a "beast mode" version of the Heron, mainly made to fix stabilization issues. pilots who flew it loved it. it had greater maneuverability in comparison to the Heron, and often was the most unhinged bird in the sky during airshows. people and pilots both loved it.
due to the existence of the canards, measures were taken to reduce the returns on the stabilizers. this made it have only a bit bigger cross section to the Heron.
in summary, the Heron is much better for longer missions, long range engagements, and intelligence. the Vulture is much better for medium to close range engagements, and interceptions.
no, the yaw spins weren't fixed, but it can get out of them faster and recover quicker.
WEAPONS INFO AND NOTES:
YM-22s are powerful munitions. these thrust vectoring missiles almost never miss, however are weak to jamming at shorter ranges. best to use them at medium ranges, and assist them in tracking by turning lead in the direction the enemy is moving.
ADMMs are honestly overpowered, they lock on instantly, cant be flared easily, are very fast, and turn instantly. if youre LAME, you can use them rather than YM-22s.
stay fast in a dogfight. stay away from the nose of the enemy, and dont try to use your gun. its very accurate, and very powerful, however the way the aircraft moves can prevent a lot of gun shots, so have YM-22 shots as your main focus.
external hardpoints can be mounted with other munitions, along with the pods, however the internal weapons bay is specifically meant for the harboring of YM-22s.
thrust vectoring is very useful with how comically powerful these engines are. its easy to stay on the six of your enemy, or atleast always have the advantage.
if the enemy is in the spot in which it can get a gun shot at your side, keep a thin profile, and pitch up. youll lose speed pretty quickly, and be out of the way. keep pitching up, the enemy will automatically try to follow you, and once you can get it in front, its done for the enemy.
use your god given afterburner (AG5)! it gives you an instant speed boost, and can be very useful for extending away from the enemy, catching up, and turning fast.
if you suck at landing, be sure to detach your weapon pods (AG4) over and into WATER before attempting a landing, and wait until you get somewhat level on the ground before activating your parachute (AG2), and then just hold brake until you stop.
why detach your pods? the ADMMs tend to cause lag when blowing up all at
once.
use the F/A-42 or the F/A-43 based on your playstyle.
