It is the first main warship officially using Aegis, equipped with an integrated surface combat system with AN/SPY-1 phased array radar as its core. It is the only class I cruiser in active service of the US Navy. Together with the Russian Navy 1164 cruiser, it is the only two traditional power guided missile cruisers in active service in the world.
