"She's one nightmare to work with, but also a nightmare for anyone fighting it"

The AE-754G Nexus is a small AWACS platform design and built by the Phazerus company in the 1970s and primarily used by the Arsenian navy. The plane's small size and foldable wings allowed it to be easily fielded on Arsenian Carriers. It's signature radar dish gave it excellent radar range and help the fleet extend engagement distance.

Development

With the new Avastasia class of aircraft carrier being developed a new complementary air wing was also being shaped. The fighter and attack parts are already being developed, but the supporting aircrafts haven't. While the previous Hopper AWACS was good it was too big to be used on mass, as such a new smaller AWACS was needed. Several companies would offer a bid, but eventually the Phazerus company won out.

The initial prototype began testing in 1970 but was troublesome due to the aircraft's many problems. The early prototypes was said to be very cramped and hard to work with. Their engines were soo noisy that some pilots suffered permanent ear damages. The disproportionately large radar cause heavy strain on the fuselage and aircraft performance. The 1st prototype would crash after the radar collapsed part of the wing, this resulted in not only the death of 2 pilot but also 12 maintenance crew in a hangar the plane crashed to. After this the 2nd prototype was retired and the rest were modified in production. The 4th prototype would also be destroyed after a bird strike cause the radar dome to spin wildy and cause severe and unexpected jerking right before landing, another 2 pilot died in the crash. Many fixes had to be conducted such as reinforcing the support and bracing of the radar dome.

Service

Even with the troublesome development the aircraft would still service in 1976. Production would be accelerated with the Avastasias already being commissioned. The production planes would prove quite unreliable, the folding hinges often broke, radar dome stuck in spin mode, unreliable engines, and corrosion issues. These problems would be slowly fixed after each deployment. There were so many problems and version to fix it that eventually by the 2000s the AE-754 Nexus had already gone through 26 different iterations, hot fixes, and maintenance packages, a feat never seen before.

Eventually the nexus would prove just how important it is on the battlefield. With the plane being present in just about every war a carrier battle group was there. The plane even though an absolute hell to work with was still honoured by the pilots of their companions, helping the plane earn it's place in the fleet.

Design : AE 754G Nexus

Equipped 2 GH-1200 series turboprop engine, a variation of the GH-1000 on the heron family of heavy aircraft. It primary feature is the large HorizonX AESA radar. The palen is crewed by 5 man, a pilot and copilot, a radar operator officer, systems information officer, and a aircraft coordinator officer. The plane is of course carrier capable, with a arrestor hook and reinforced landing gear. The plane features good maneuverability considering the size and cumbersome radar. The newer G variant would also come with the KT-51 countermeasures pod, this would give the Nexus increased electronic warfare capability and additional flare dispenser.

Control

Pitch, roll, yaw, throttle, trim : normal
AG7 : fold wings
AG8 : stop the radar spinning

Notes

I don't really know what to put here...
Next one is probably a battleship or a bomber
