GT-2A-V2 BELLERO


The Christmas Special Trains are limited-season passenger services operated by Pearlia Railway Services (PRS) during the Christmas and New Year holiday period. The program was introduced in 2025, operating annually from 16th of December to 31st December, in response to peak holiday travel demand and as part of PRS’s broader cultural and public engagement initiatives.


The GT-2A-V2 Bellero is a dual gas turbine-electric locomotive built by the NovaSpire Rail Company (NVSPRC) for the Pearlia Railway Services (PRS). Developed in 2020 as the successor to the GT-1A-V1 Astra, the Bellero represents the second generation of Pearlia’s high-performance turbine locomotives. Designed for high-speed intercity, mixed express operations and freight line services; it features twin high-output gas turbines, a modified C–C bogie arrangement, and a maximum speed of 249 km/h (155 mph).

The Bellero rides on two six-axle (C–C) bogies, but unlike traditional C–C designs where the bogie pivots at its center, NVSPRC developed a hybridized frame derived from the earlier B–B bogie used on the Astra. Engineers extended the frame and added a third axle at the rear, shifting the pivot point forward to maintain smooth curve negotiation and minimize lateral stress at high speed.
The result is a semi-articulated bogie that balances stability and traction, optimized for the 1,435 mm (4 ft 8½ in) standard gauge used on PRS’s upgraded mainline network.
