In 1989 , Qantas flew non-stop from London to Sydney , the flight distance was 18,000 km and was completed in 20 hours 9 minutes . However, the flight did not carry passengers or cargo (the plane was empty). By May 2004 , 1382 Boeing 747 aircraft , with various configurations, had been repaired or improved, making the 747 one of Boeing's most successful products .
