"Indigo Team" JAS-39C Gripen

3,040 TheStapler  7.6 years ago

"Unlike you mercenaries, I fight for a real cause. The ones who survive are those who fight for their convictions."
-Dimitri Heinreich, Indigo 1

This is my rendition of the Gripens used by Indigo Team in Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War. It's a capable, agile multirole aircraft that can carry a wide range of weapons to suit any mission. Mach 2 is possible, but the relaxed stability at that speed means you're better off using trim to fly at that speed. If you have trouble with staying under control (you shouldn't) just move the fuel a bit further forwards.

Features:
Lights (AG1)
Shiny Indigo paint scheme (oooh shiny)
Belkan Air Force Insignia on wings
All moving canards
Air to Air loadout (very versatile, experiment to suit the mission)

Known goofs:
The gun isn't in the right place, but in the correct place it kept blowing up the plane.
The leading edge slats don't move (they were going to, but again hampered by explosions :( )

Apart from the above I'm very pleased with how this turned out, it's my "daily driver" in this game (aside from my F-20 and MiG-31). Hope you enjoy it as much as me.

All comments and suggestions for improvements/future builds welcome.

@Liquidfox I'll take a look, I'm pretty good at getting the patterns right in the wings, but the fuselage is a different story!

@MrDeguello I just checked the weight balance, I must've changed something just before I uploaded it :( as for the stability at speed its a trade off between agility at low speed, which I thought was more important with this one being a dogfight specialists airplane. Thanks for the feedback though!

You've manage to do the fuselage really good. And you've done your wings propotional better than i did. The plane is a bit heavy in the rear wich makes it stand on it's jet engine. It flies nice untill you've reach a certain speed then it gets out of control. But i have to say that it's a really good replica otherwise.

@Liquidfox I've got an F-4G Heartbreak 1 already done, I think I'd struggle to get the stripes done right but I might give it a go tomorrow night!
