This one's a bit shorter :( But I still think that I did pretty good
The MCA-55 CTRL is an AWACS (Airborne Warning And Control System) variant of the widely used MCA-55 commercial airliner. This is also one of the three military variants of the MCA-55, the other two being the MCA-55 RFL(an aerial tanker variant) and the MCA-55 TRNS(a long range transport variant). It utilises a Meriko RDCTL-399 radar tracking and control system, one that was specially built for this aircraft. It also has a GSM-500 ground scanning targeting pod. It entered service in 2010, replacing the MCA-40 CTRL, just like how all other variants were built to replace the MCA-40.
The program dates back to 2000, as a replacement for the MCA-40 CTRL, and more importantly RDCTL-366 radar computing system, which faced overloading issues when linked up with extra systems, such as active jamming, or even weaponry. The RLAF asked for three important specifications from Merikan, those being
•Ability to integrate extra equipment without issues
•Long range and a high aircraft datalink limit (potentially more than 100)
•Co-usage with the M-40 (which Merikan was also developing at that time)
The MCA-55 faced a series of issues during development, primarily budget and workforce cuts, as more war being put into the Mamba every day. But with the help of Irishan (a sub-company under Merikan's control) and Sarvorech. The system was first took flight in the MCA-55 skeleton in 2005, and in just 5 years, the first 16 production model aircraft entered service in the 001st Rhistaka defence squadron.
Ever since then, it has had an extensive service life. Serving from the beginning of the Greenada Liberation, where it used its sophisticated ground tracking technology to create high resolution maps of enemy territory, and point out the exact locations of critical targets, places to avoid, trough terrain, and even limited weather forecasting, all the way to latestage battles like Operation Pool Cleaner, where it served a more active role, primarily jamming the communication and weapons systems of ships, so that they could be hunted down more easily. It also played a crucial role in the siege on MoneyTown, where it mapped out the impact zones of the Rhistaka Artillery Railguns' shells, so that allied aircraft wouldn't get caught.
Operators:
The Kingdom of Los
They're the only nation to actively operate the MCA-55. They have over 500 in active duty, and many more either retired, or scrapped due to irreparable damages
Again, thank you for reading :3
