P-51D Shark of Zambales

23.1k BobTheTitanSP  8.3 years ago

First of all, I would like to thank AgDynamics for the shark head and I would like to thank Delphinus for the PAF insignia.

The P-51D Mustang has has so many variations, so I decided to make a variation that no one has made before. The P-51D "Shark of Zambales" was a real life aircraft flown by the PAF (Philippine Air Force) and it's one of my favorite planes. The Philippines used this plane and many other P-51Ds against the Japanese during WW2.

History:
The P-51D Mustang is seen by many as one of the most iconic fighter aircraft in WWII. Clearing the German skies of Luftwaffe fighters, the P-51D was designed and built by the North American Aviation as commissioned by the Royal Air Force in the 1940s. Earlier variations were initially fitted with Allison V-1710-39 engine, but by 1944, it was re-equipped with a Rolls-Royce Merlin V-1650 engine. After WWII, the Philippines was able to get their hands on 103 units of the P-51D Mustang. The aircraft was largely used by the Philippine Air Force (PAF) and the Philippine Army Air Corps against the “Huk” campaign. One of the most famous P-51D Mustangs was the “Shark of Zambales,” which was flown by Lt. Col. Benito Ebuen of the PAF.
