F-6 Wildcat

158 RinkyDinky2  5.1 years ago

The F-6 Wildcat was built for the purpose of replacing the F-4 MarinFighter, while a good plane it was outclassed by new desgins. The F-6 was larger, faster, more powerful, more guns, simply better in every way. It was introduced into service in 1944, and by early 1945 it was flying in combat against Iron Alliance planes. It was used until 1963 when new designs were popular enough to replace the plane. It had one of the best combat records of the war, and saw service in other airforces until 1999.
