Ship Building Sample: A tutorial on how to make small, but good ships.

So, you wanna build ships? I think I can help you with the basics.
This is a good example of a ship you can start with. The colors indicate where important parts are located.

Let's start with the Red Block, the VTOL engines are located there. You need proper spacing for the engines in order to place the block on top of them, hiding them from view. They would look kinda ugly if they're just sitting on the deck...and they won't work if you stick them underwater.

Yellow Blocks. So you need to be able to move...and turn, there are VTOL Nozzles hidden in those. Keep in mind that you want them to be controlled by Yaw or Roll, yaw is more proper for this. Also, one of them must be set to: Inverted = Yes.

Green Block. Ok so you know EVERY car, plane or boat in this game needs a cockpit, well...under the green block is exactly that. The cockpit must be placed somewhat off center of the block it sits on, preferably front or back, so you can hide it!

Blue Block. You need to give your VTOL engines some air...that's where this block comes in! Place at least 3 Slim Inlets there, and it'll be enough to power 2 VTOL engines. You'll need more of them if you choose to add more engines.

The final part is the Purple Blocks. You may want to use...no...you have to use this. Place 1 to 3 vertical stabilizers there. These can also be used as an alternative turning device, though not as good as your VTOL Nozzles. This will keep the ship going in a straight line, and helps correct your turning recovery. Without them, you could be sailing your ship sideways through the water...good for parallel parking, but not good in any other instances.

You can make your ships long, short, thin and fat, they'll have their costs for each design though.

Thin ships: Fast, but easy to roll.
Fat ships: Very hard to roll, but slow to move.
Short ships: Fast turning, but easy to roll.
Long ships: Slow turning, and somewhat hard to roll.

Combining these designs can determine how your ship moves in general. I made this one long and thin. Therefor, it's fast and hard to roll, but also has slow turns.

SO, that's all for this tutorial. Have fun with ship building!
