The consortium Bréguet and BAC, propose the development of a long-range version of SEPECAT Jaguar, designed to bypass enemy defenses with a semi-stealth design. Quickly, it was observed that the best option was a delta design, which combined a great solidity alar, with the capacity to carry more armament. The result was the SEPECAT Puma, a subsonic aircraft, but with greater precision and lower observability than predecessor. Nevertheless the economic crisis prevented the mass production of this airplane, producing a reduced series to equip some squadrons.
