Notes N Stuff

This aircraft was made as a contestant for a challenge!
I’m very proud of this aircraft, mainly because of the design and some of the features. I haven’t made the aircraft that this is supposed to fly with but the challenge deadline is coming up and I cant take any chances. It’s also my first build of 2026 and is my first build in just over 8 months. I took a little break mainly because of school but I’m happy to be back! Hope y'all enjoy the plane!

Background

The Ki-50Mi "Emperor was a Japanese experimental “parasite” aircraft designed in the early 60’s. It marked the start of a new era for Japanese aviation and took inspiration from American projects at the time such as the XF-85 "Goblin". The aircraft showcased the newest of Japans technology and showed Japan, it’s allies, and enemies what they were capable of. The project began in the later years of the 1950s and Mitsubishi officially won the contract in March of 1960. The contract called for a light interceptor aircraft, capable of speeds exceeding 600 Km/H. The aircraft had to be able to fly at altitudes reaching 10,000 meters and weigh under 3,500 Kg. To achieve such high speeds and altitudes, Mitsubishi opted to use dual rocket boosters mounted on the side of the aircraft near the rear. Each rocket booster produced a combined thrust of 2,430 pound forces, along with the two propeller engines mounted on both wings with 1250 horsepower each, allowed for the Ki-50Mi to reach speeds of up to 1050 Km/H at altitude.

Armament

The Ki-50Mi is an interceptor aircraft so it had to have at least some weapons. The aircraft came with two .50 caliber machine guns mounted on the inside of both wings, as well as two 20mm cannons mounted on the nose with multiple ammunition choices from incendiary to armor piercing. This diverse gun setup allowed for the "Emperor" to shred through the thick skin of bombers and tore to pieces wings, fuselage, and everything found on any bomber. The Ki-50Mi also had the option to carry 6 proximity explosive rockets that could destroy even the largest of aircraft in just a single hit.

Controls

Ag1: Jettison rockets
Ag2: Turn on rocket boosters (able to turn off)
Ag3: Jettison rocket boosters (I recommend turning of Ag2 if you plan on doing this)
Ag4: Airbrake
Ag5-8: Unassigned
VTOL: Flaps
Trim: Trim

Instructions (important)

Takeoff speed is at ~240 Km/H

Try to touchdown at around 270 Km/H

This thing doesn’t turn super good so don’t get into a position where you’ll need to maneuver rapidly to survive.

Flaps don’t help too much so I wouldn’t use them a lot.

You have a VERY small fuel load and the rocket boosters (Ag2) burn through that fuel like crazyyy so I wouldn't use them unless I 100% have to. This aircraft was made for short duration flight and interceptions sort of like the Me-163 so manage fuel carefully.
