A class of Soviet main combat tanks known as the T-72 went into production in 1969. The T-64, which had issues with high prices and its reliance on nascent technical technologies, was developed into the T-72. A total of 25,000 T-72 tanks were produced, and after rehabilitation, many of them have been able to serve for many years. It has been extensively exported and used in 40 different nations and countless conflicts. Chinese Type 99 and the 1992-introduced Russian T-90 are both improvements on the T-72. Modernized T-72 variants are still being produced and developed today.
