TransAsia Airways The Chinese name is (復興航空)(formerly Foshing Airlines, renamed after launching international routes in 1992, often abbreviated as FOA or TRA) was a defunct Taiwanese airline that held a significant place in the history of Taiwanese aviation development.
Founded on May 21, 1951, TransAsia Airways was Taiwan's first privately owned airline. Initially focusing on domestic routes, it laid the foundation for postwar Taiwanese air transport. In 1983, the airline was taken over by the Taiwan National Taiwan Industrial Group, leading to a shift in its operational focus and scale.
TransAsia Airways' main hubs were located at Taoyuan International Airport and Taipei Songshan International Airport. In addition to passenger services, it also provided ground handling and other related aviation services, holding a place in the Taiwanese aviation market.
However, affected by air disasters (GE222 and GE235), competitive environment, and operational factors, TransAsia Airways finally ceased operations on November 21, 2016, officially becoming a thing of the past.
