Fokker F-28 Fellowship (Ansett Australia)

My second decent-ish, airliner replica, the Dutch Fokker F-28-1000 Fellowship regional jet.

First flying in May 1967, entering service in March 1969. It would see widespread use by several airlines on regional domestic routes all the way until Fly-SAX became the last to retire the type from civilian service, finishing an impressive civilian career lasting 50 years: serving with likes of SAS, Garuda Indonesia, NLM Cityhopper, USAir, and many members of Ansett group. This aircraft, VH-FKD, has an interesting history. It entered service with Ansett in December 1970, until April 1971 (A long career ik) operating routes within NSW, when it was transferred across the country to operate for MacRobertson Miller Airlines (Which later became Airlines of Western Australia, then Ansett W.A) in Perth, until March 1983, when it was returned to Air New South Wales (Which became Ansett NSW). The jet bounced back and forth between the 2 airlines a couple more times in different liveries, before being transferred to Ansett Australia in 1993, and operated it’s final service April 24th, 1994. The aircraft was eventually scrapped in 1995. The F-28 in general had successful career in different parts of the world, particularly in Australia, Canada and North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia. But it was very much a product of its time, with pretty basic avionics by modern standards, and more than a dozen F-28s were lost in crashes, the first being the crash of Braathens SAFE Flight 239 on 23rd December 1972, which killed 41 people when it crashed on approach, the deadliest being Air Mauritanie Flight 625, which crashed while landing, killing 80 people, and the latest being loss of TANS Peru 222, on the 9th January 2003, again, crashing on approach. Other notable accidents included the loss of Air Ontario 1363, and USAir 405, which both crashed on take-off during icing under similar circumstances, collectively killing 51. Despite these, the F-28 is remembered favourably, and was used as the basis for the Fokker 70 and Fokker 100

I am quite proud of this, mainly it's livery, it took a lot of work, and it looks cool. I know this isn't the best replica, and in particular the eyebrow windows look a bit second hand, but I think the overall shape is accurate to the F-28. I also enjoyed researching this jet, in particular, the game of hot potato MMA/Airlines of WA/Ansett WA and Airlines of New South Wales/Ansett NSW played with this jet.

Activation groups are in craft description

Enjoy! :)
