Boeing B-62D "Jumbo Fortess"

30.0k Dumpworks  6.5 years ago

Boeings design to take thier well regarded 747 Jumbojet and to transform it into a long-range bomber to replace thier earlier B-52 "Strato Fortess", while the B-62 has more internal space than the B-52, and has he addtion of 3 remote gun turrets all having Vulcan 20mm Miniguns, it also has the ability to mount 3 Cruise missles in the front bombay, but unike the B-52 it has no external bomb racks and has a smaller ground clearence making emergency landings difficult, ultimately the US Airforce saw no need to replace the B-52 and the B-62 was never built (activator 1 and 2 for turrets and 3 for tail gun, activator 4 for landing lights)
