The Skate is a Hanseatic heavy fighter, and among the largest and most powerful of the League's warplanes. These airplanes are seldom seen over the skies of Hanseatic cities in German Imperial coasts owing to treaty restrictions, which forbid multiple-engined warplanes from being fielded by Hanseatic defense squadrons in the region. However, these treaties do allow for production of the type for export. Skates are commonly seen along the Baltic, British and Scandinavian coasts, where they are typically used in retaliatory raids against enemies like the Scandinavian Realm and the Vedic Brotherhood. Skates also fulfill one of their mos timportant missions: intercepting USS intruders and escorting them out of Hanseatic-controlled waters.
From a technical standpoint, the Skate leans on the heavy, attack-focused end of post-Crumbling heavy fighters. Made to attack ground and sea targets, the Skate is blessed with prodigious firepower in the form of four 14.5 mm VHMGs, and 4 23 mm autocannons, both of Eastern European origin. For ordnance, the Skate can possess both internal and external stores, being capable of carrying 2 250 kg bombs or two torpedos of the same model as seen in the Garfish. While not shown, the machine can also carry 4 hardpoints in the inner wings, and can have it's nose swapped for a glass one for reconaissance and bomber work.
One last, important detail is it's rear observer position. The observer here is equipped with an extra 14.5 mm VHMG. Unusually, the glass cone rotates to aim the gun.
Controls
1 (VTOL): Open/close bomb bay
7 (VTOL, Throttle): Aim and fire the rear gun.
