After the shipment of hte Ion Cannon was destroyed and the Russians thretend to use a super weapon, USA invested millions in building a smaller version of the Ion Cannon, the Airforce worked together with NASA to make, a ion particle charger. This machine is placed in LEO collects solar energy and focuses it in the ion tube, the electricity is so powerful that it needes to be contained in a magnetic ring, as the ion cannon fires, the pulse of ion particles will pass through the ion tube and pick up the electricity and get accelerates to incredible speedes, so powerful, that if the electricity incased ion beam hits the moon, the moon will get reduced to only 65% of it's size. The US is planing on making a mirrior to deflect the beam to the target.
